Summer 2009: This gallery contains images from three canyons in the American Southwest – Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. The former two were photographed conventionally. I stayed on the beaten path and shot some of the more notable points in the parks. For the shots of the Grand Canyon, I started from the less visited North Rim and descended about a mile down in elevation. Upon reaching Roaring Springs, a local landmark whose name is grossly exaggerated, I ventured off the path for about an hour, scrambling uphill over tumbling cascades towards a hidden waterfall.
